If SafeW is blocked by SmartScreen, Defender, or another antivirus on Windows, first verify whether the installer came from the current SafeW Windows download section. A security prompt does not always mean the file is malicious, but an unknown installer should not be forced to run.
If you are doing a normal Windows install, start with the SafeW Windows install guide. This page focuses on security warnings, hidden run buttons, and managed computers that block the app.
Open the SmartScreen warning details
SmartScreen may show “Windows protected your PC” for new, low-reputation, or recently downloaded files. Open “More info” and review the publisher, file name, and run option, then compare the file source with the download page.
If the source does not match the download page or the file name looks modified, do not continue. A forwarded installer is not the same as a current release source.
Defender or antivirus blocks
Read the exact Defender warning. Unknown publisher, low reputation, and internet download markers are different from a clear malware detection. The first group should be judged with source and signature details; a clear malware detection means you should stop and download again from the verified source.
Do not disable all security: If the source is trusted, use the smallest possible allow action for the current file or install process. Leaving real-time protection off increases risk.
Administrator rights and managed device policies
Some Windows devices require administrator permission to install or write to app folders. Before using Run as administrator, verify the source. Company devices may also use application control, EDR, inspected proxy traffic, or software allowlists.
On managed devices, do not change security policy yourself. Record the warning, file source, download time, and Windows version, then ask an administrator whether SafeW can be allowed.
If SafeW installs but will not open or connect
If installation succeeds but SafeW will not open, restart Windows, then check permissions, security software, and blocked app lists. If the app opens but cannot connect, continue with the network, proxy, and firewall checklist.
If login then fails with verification code, device limit, or activation errors, use SafeW login and connection troubleshooting so security blocking and account issues stay separate.
