Installing SafeW on Windows is not only about running an installer. The safer workflow is to confirm the file source, install it with the right permissions, then check network and system time before signing in. This is especially important on office laptops where security tools may block unknown apps.
Check the Windows source
Open the Windows section on the SafeW download page and follow the current listed source. If the source is a project release page, treat it as a release source, not as Microsoft Store. Avoid third-party download sites that rename or repackage installers.
Small but useful: If the download fails on a school or company network, try another trusted network before looking for a mirror.
Windows 10/11 setup steps
- Download the Windows installer from the current listed source.
- Check the file name and source before running it.
- If Windows SmartScreen appears, pause and verify the source before continuing.
- If admin permission is required, use an administrator account or ask the device owner.
- After installation, open SafeW from the Start menu instead of running the installer again.
If SafeW does not open after installation
Restart Windows once, then check security software, firewall rules, graphics driver status, and application control policies. On managed devices, SafeW may be blocked by company policy even when the installer itself completes.
Before login: check time and network
Secure messaging apps can be sensitive to system time. Open Windows Settings, enable automatic time and time zone, then relaunch SafeW. If the phone app works but the desktop app does not, the issue is more likely on the Windows environment than on the account.
If setup is fine but activation fails, read SafeW Activation Failed. If the code never arrives, use the verification code guide.
