If SafeW file transfer fails or a large file stays stuck uploading, the cause is often network switching, file size, local storage, system permission, recipient status, or app source mismatch. Do not keep tapping send or jump to a random installer. Split the problem by file, network, and platform first.
For the normal sending flow, read the SafeW encrypted file transfer guide. This page focuses on failed sends, failed downloads, and large file interruptions.
Check whether the network changed
File transfer is more sensitive to network changes than text messages. A phone switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data, a laptop moving from company Wi-Fi to hotspot, or a proxy changing mid-upload can interrupt the transfer. Lock onto one stable network and send a small test file first.
If files fail on company or school Wi-Fi but work on a hotspot, use the SafeW network, proxy, and firewall checklist. Reinstalling usually does not fix gateway restrictions.
Compress or split large files
Do not treat file size numbers from old guides as permanent rules. Actual limits can depend on app version, platform, network, and server policy. For videos, archives, and design files that keep failing, compress them, split them, or send them in smaller groups.
On desktop, prevent the computer from sleeping during a large upload. Windows users should check power settings. macOS users should watch lid close behavior, background network access, and free disk space.
Storage and file permissions
Sending a file requires read access. Receiving a file requires local write space. Android users should check files, photos, camera, or media permissions. iPhone users should check photo and file access. Desktop users should check download folders, sandbox permissions, and security software.
Quick test: Send a small image or PDF. If small files work and large files fail, focus on size, network, and storage. If small files fail too, check permissions and app source.
Recipient offline or device state issues
Delivery also depends on the recipient’s online status, device storage, app version, and network. For important files, do not rely only on your sent status. Ask the recipient to confirm they can open the file. For contracts, ID photos, or temporary passwords, keep another controlled copy outside the chat.
If the recipient recently changed devices or hit a device limit, ask them to check signed-in devices before treating it as a file issue.
When reinstalling makes sense
Only reinstall or update after network, file size, permissions, storage, and recipient checks are done. Before downloading again, return to the SafeW download page and verify the current source. Avoid cloud-drive copies, short links, and renamed installers.
