If SafeW camera, microphone, photos, or file selection does not work, start with system permissions. Android, iPhone, Windows, and macOS can separately restrict camera, microphone, photos, files, notifications, and background activity. When the install source is verified, enabling permissions feature by feature is safer than allowing everything at once.
If only file sending fails, use SafeW file transfer failed. If only alerts are missing, use SafeW notification delay fixes.
Android permission checks
Open system settings, find SafeW app info, and check camera, microphone, photos and videos, files and media, notifications, and background activity. Names vary by Android brand, but the path is usually Settings → Apps → SafeW → Permissions.
If SafeW was just installed from an APK, also confirm the source from the SafeW Android download section. Permission issues and mismatched install sources can appear together.
iPhone photos and microphone
On iPhone, check Settings → Privacy & Security for camera, microphone, photos, and local network access. Photos can be limited to selected items. If SafeW cannot see images you expect to send, check photo access first.
If SafeW opens but cannot sign in, permissions are usually not the first cause. Use login and connection troubleshooting.
Windows and macOS desktop permissions
Desktop issues often come from OS privacy settings blocking microphone, camera, download folders, or file pickers. On Windows, check Privacy & security for camera, microphone, and file system access. On macOS, check Privacy & Security for camera, microphone, files, and folders.
Managed devices need extra care: Company computers may have permissions controlled by administrators. Do not disable security policy yourself. Record the prompt and ask whether SafeW can use the needed device.
Contacts permission can wait
Contacts permission usually affects discovery or quick matching. It is not always required for basic messaging. You can deny it first, confirm SafeW signs in and sends messages, then enable it only if you need contact discovery.
Do not reinstall blindly
Before reinstalling, turn the specific permission off and on again, restart SafeW, and test with a small image or short audio clip. Reinstall only after permissions, network, and OS settings are checked. If you download again, return to the SafeW download page and verify the current source.
