SafeW Checklist Before an Old Device Leaves Your Hands

Deleting an app icon is not the whole cleanup. Check sessions, notifications, files, and backup information together.

Before selling an old phone, returning a company laptop, sending a device for repair, or handing a tablet to someone else, check SafeW sign-in state and local data. Many account risks start with an old device that still has notification previews, downloaded files, active sessions, or backup prompts.

If you are switching to a new phone, use the full backup, restore, and phone switch guide. This advisory is narrower: what to check before a device leaves your control.

Five checks before handoff

  1. Sign-in state: Confirm whether SafeW still opens on the old device and sign out if the current version provides that option.
  2. Device list: Review account or device management settings for devices you no longer use.
  3. Local files: Check downloaded images, documents, archives, and temporary files.
  4. Notification previews: Hide lock-screen content so message snippets do not appear during handoff.
  5. Backup information: Remove recovery codes, backup codes, and screenshots from photos or file folders.

Company and repair devices need extra care

Company computers may be managed by an administrator, and repair shops may ask for device access. Do not treat SafeW like an ordinary folder. If the current version provides signed-in device management, remove old devices first. If you see a device limit message, use the signed-in device guide.

Cleaning an old device does not mean every chat history can be recovered later. If important files must be kept, check the current backup, export, or resend options before the old device leaves your hands.

Practical order: Confirm the new device can sign in first, then sign out and clean the old device. That is usually safer than deleting the old setup and only then looking for codes or backups.
